The video of the day for today is a super awesome animated video for the song "Fortress" by Pinback. Awesome song, awesome video, and an awesome band! Woo!
Here is a bit from the Wikipedia page on them: "Pinback is an indie rock band from San Diego, California, currently signed to Temporary Residence Ltd. The band was formed in 1998 by singers, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Armistead Burwell Smith IV and Rob Crow. The band has two drummers that switch off and on, Chris Prescott, and Tom Zinser."
I really like Pinback a lot, and I love watching this video! Check out their website here!

Video of the Day 8/14/2010 "Our Retired Explorer" by The Weakerthans
Today's video is "Our Retired Explorer" by The Weakerthans. A weird video, but definitely one of my favorites! Dancing in Antarctica looks like a blast. Also, it has a bit of a downer ending.
Here is some info on The Weakerthans from Wikipedia: "The Weakerthans are a four-piece (and sometimes six-piece) Canadian indie rockband that blends punk rock with folk rock. The band was formed in 1997 in Winnipeg, Manitoba by John K. Samson, after he left the punk band Propagandhi to start a publishing company. Samson joined forces with bassist John P. Sutton and drummer Jason Tait, and created The Weakerthans as a vehicle for a more melodic and introspective brand of songwriting than that of Propagandhi."
The Weakerthans are definitely one of my all time favorite bands. All of their songs really seem to hit home for me and I've never been sure why. Definitely worth a listen if you haven't heard much of them before!

Video of the Day 8/13/2010 Dashboard by Modest Mouse
The Video of the Day for today is "Dashboard" by Modest Mouse. I find this video to be quite hilarious and damn fun to watch, especially because of the ridiculous make up that the band members are wearing. Plus, I love Modest Mouse.
If for some strange reason you have never heard of Modest Mouse, here is a bit from the Wikipedia page on them: "Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington by singer/lyricist/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy. They are based in Portland, Oregon. Since their 1996 debut album, This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, their lineup has centered around Brock, Green and Judy."..."Their name is derived from a passage from the Virginia Woolf story "The Mark on the Wall" which reads, "I wish I could hit upon a pleasant track of thought, a track indirectly reflecting credit upon myself, for those are the pleasantest thoughts, and very frequent even in the minds of modest, mouse-coloured people, who believe genuinely that they dislike to hear their own praises."
Modest Mouse has been around for awhile, but (in my opinion) they still kick amazing amounts of ass. Go visit their site here for more awesome videos and such from them.
Bonus Video:
As I was surfing the you tube I stumbled upon this hilarious interview with The Dead Weather (the band featured yesterday). Jack White is totally just being a weirdo and giving the interviewer a hard time. The whole band also looks ridiculously high... but nothing wrong with that right? Enjoy.
